The nightlife and entertainment scene is a major component of the excellent quality of life to be found in the city of Charlotte. Whether you are looking to dance the night away, have a quiet cocktail with friends in a quaint neighborhood, or enjoy some of the best sports to be found anywhere in the country, Charlotte has plenty of venues and activities to choose from.

Uptown Charlotte After Dark

The hottest nightlife in Charlotte can be found in the Uptown section of the city. Night owls of all kinds will want to check out the AvidXchange Music Factory. This massive entertainment complex – one of the city’s “signature stroll zones” – offers a large selection of bars, nightclubs, and concert venues. Some of the hotter spots at AvidXchange include The Fillmore Charlotte concert hall and the 5,000 seat Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheater, both of which attract top music acts from around the world; the Comedy Zone, featuring local and nationally known stand-up comics as well as open mic nights; and Label Charlotte, a multilevel nightclub that offers dancing, DJs, and live performances.

Also located in Uptown, EpiCenter is another large after-dark entertainment complex featuring 12 live music venues for those looking to party after the sun goes down. Popular venues located at EpiCenter include Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Whisky River, where you can line-dance the night away to country music; Suite at EpiCenter and Bubble Factory, upscale nightclubs featuring live DJs; and the Tin Roof, which offers live local bands, food, and a friendly party atmosphere seven nights a week. Other top clubs and music venues located in Uptown include Connelly’s on Fifth, Prohibition Bar, the Roxbury Nightclub, and Tilt on Trade.

Charlotte is a city that loves and supports their sports with a passion. The Carolina Panthers are one of the top ranked teams in the NFL year after year, and play their home games at Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte. Making the playoffs in seven seasons and the Super Bowl three times in their 21 year history, the Panthers have yet to win the big one, but Charlotte fans have faith. Largely owned by former NBA star Michael Jordan, the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets play their home games in Uptown’s Time-Warner Cable Arena to sell-out crowds. Past hall of fame players and coaches include Robert Parish, Alonzo Mourning, and Larry Brown. Sports fans who really want to get their hearts racing need look no further than the Charlotte Motor Speedway, located just outside of town in Concord, N.C. The Speedway hosts NASCAR’s Memorial Day Coca-Cola 600, the Bank of America 500, the Sprint All-Star Race as well as events in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series, Camping World Truck Series, the NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series, along with many other races throughout the year.

Those looking to try their luck at the gaming tables will find Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort located in nearby Cherokee, N.C.  The resort offers table games, over 4,000 slot machines, and 1,100 luxury rooms and suites. The casino also serves as home to Charlotte-area World Series of Poker tournaments. For those interested in the Sport of Kings, Brooklandwoods in nearby Mineral Springs N.C. is host to The Queen’s Cup Steeplechase, one of the most important events in the Steeplechase Horse Racing season.

Day or night, Charlotte offers some of the most engaging and fun entertainment to be found anywhere. Whether you are single, part of a family, or with a group of friends, when it comes to having a good time, Charlotte has got you covered.
