Summertime is here and the snacking is easy! This is the season when the fruits and veggies are rolling into markets, making it easy and cost-effective to whip up delicious snacks with local ingredients. Some of our favorite local Texas ingredients are: blackberries, melon, apples, corn, peaches, tomatoes and cucumbers. From fresh fruits and vegetables to homemade popsicles, there are many awesome summer snack ideas to try this season. Here are 10 delicious summer snack ideas with some local flair.

1. Pass The Sushi’s Honeydew Popsicles

The sweltering Texas heat begs for a few drippy honeydew popsicles to cool you down. Plus with only three ingredients, this treat is both delicious and easy.

2. Lovely Little Kitchen’s Chili Lime Sweet Corn Salad

Fire roasted corn with a spicy, tangy, chili lime dressing. This corn salad makes for a delicious side or salsa for a Tex-Mex feast.

3. Fruit Kebabs

If the state fair has taught us anything, it’s that everything tastes better on a stick! There’s no right or wrong when it comes to this recipe. Take your favorite local fruits – like blackberries, cherries and apples – and line them up on a skewer.

Servings of grilled peaches can be an excellent way to stay cooler, yet energized in summer. You can add vanilla ice cream to them to make them even tastier, but we prefer a sprinkling of bleu cheese and a slight drizzle of balsamic vinegar for a delicious stand-alone or side dish. Cinnamon and sugar also work amazingly well with grilled peaches!
