Meet Mercedes! In three words she would describe herself as committed, persistent & determined (mostly mistaken with stubbornness). She wasn’t born in Houston but made it here as soon as she could. She has three children who are the center of her universe. Her oldest Axel was born in Brooklyn, NY a day after the tragic 9/11 event & Frida was born in Houston just a day before Valentine’s Day! Her youngest Miguel will be 7 this summer. She can’t forget to mention her adopted fur babies, Daisy and Bella. Then in the mix are a couple of fish, Nemo and Spanky, who round out the rest of the members of her crazy family.
Mercedes shares that while raising three kids, it didn’t leave much time for hobbies. But she does love the Astros. She is most passionate about raising & guiding her children, so they realize their full potential in life. Mercedes is an active member of the Rescued Pets Movement where she fosters dogs in preparation for transport to their final home in Denver, CO. We asked her to share a favorite quote & she provided us with 3!
- “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss
- “Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” – Lou Holtz
She says that she uses a lot of quotes but one of her favorite ones is this one from Sr. Winston Churchill, who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II:
- “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill
Growing up Mercedes wanted to be the best human being, the best friend, and the best Mother she possibly could be. Professionally speaking, she wanted to be an Architect. However, she ended up in Business Administration, don’t ask her how, she would not know how to answer that.
Lastly, we asked her “What makes Chesmar special” & she replied, “What makes Chesmar special to me is I believe that I have found a company and a home where I will be valued, appreciated and challenged with new opportunities on a regular basis.”
